About Honda Quint
The Honda Quint is a compact five-door hatchback introduced in Japan in February 1980 and produced until 1985. Offered for a single generation, it broadened Honda’s passenger-car range with a practical model that combined the manageable size of a compact car with greater interior flexibility and a more refined market position.
Its front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout was paired with a 1.6-litre CVCC four-cylinder petrol engine. Japanese-market versions included TL, TS and TE trim levels, with a five-speed manual gearbox or an overdrive-equipped Hondamatic transmission. Higher specifications added features such as power steering and upgraded cabin equipment.
The Quint is distinguished by its angular early-1980s styling, large glass area, low beltline and substantial rear tailgate. A split-folding rear seat, seating for five and a relatively spacious cabin supported its role as a versatile family hatchback. A lightweight monocoque body, independent strut suspension at all four wheels and front disc brakes contributed to responsive handling and comfortable everyday use.
Export versions were sold in some markets as the Honda Quintet, while a Rover-badged derivative was offered in Australia. The Quint was replaced by the Quint Integra in 1985, linking this short-lived model to the later Integra line.
