About Honda N-BOX
The Honda N-BOX is a tall, box-shaped kei car created primarily for Japan. Introduced in December 2011, it was the first model in Honda’s modern N Series and was conceived as a “mini-minivan”: a compact vehicle that maximises passenger and luggage space within Japan’s kei-car regulations. Its upright body, low floor and sliding rear doors suit urban driving, family use and carrying bulky items.
Three generations have been released. The second arrived in 2017, followed by the third in October 2023. Each retained the model’s space-efficient layout while improving comfort, visibility, refinement and safety technology. The third generation added Honda CONNECT, while Honda SENSING driver-assistance features are standard across the range.
The line includes the regular N-BOX and the more assertively styled N-BOX Custom. N-BOX Joy, introduced in 2024, offers a more casual, outdoor-oriented variation, while Slope versions provide wheelchair access. Earlier derivatives included the versatile N-BOX+ and the lower-roof, style-focused N-BOX Slash.
The N-BOX is a cornerstone of Honda’s Japanese small-car range and has repeatedly ranked among the country’s best-selling vehicles. It is best known for combining a very small road footprint with an unusually spacious cabin, flexible seating, easy access and straightforward everyday usability.
