About Honda Jade
The Honda Jade is a low-roof passenger car that combines the streamlined shape and driving character of an estate with the flexible cabin of a compact MPV. Developed primarily for China, it entered that market in 2013 through Dongfeng Honda. A Japanese-market version followed in 2015.
The Jade remained within a single generation, receiving updates rather than a complete redesign. Early Japanese models used a three-row, six-seat layout with separate second-row seats. A 2018 revision broadened the range with two-row, five-seat versions offering more luggage space, while six-seat models continued.
Powertrain choices differed by year and market. Notable Japanese versions included the petrol-electric Hybrid with Honda’s 1.5-litre i-DCD system and the sportier RS powered by a 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo engine. Honda Sensing driver-assistance technology was offered and later became standard across the updated Japanese range.
Within Honda’s lineup, the Jade occupied the space between a conventional estate and a taller family minivan. It is best known for its low-floor packaging, restrained height, flexible seating and more car-like road manners. Its limited market coverage also makes it less familiar internationally than Honda’s mainstream SUVs and MPVs.
