About Honda Domani
The Honda Domani was a compact four-door sedan sold from late 1992 to 2000, primarily in Japan. It followed the Concerto in Honda’s domestic range and was positioned as a practical family car with a more formal, upmarket character than the related Civic. Sold through Honda Clio dealers, it emphasised comfort, manageable dimensions and everyday usability.
Two generations were offered. The first ran from 1992 to the end of 1996, with front-wheel drive and 1.5-, 1.6- or 1.8-litre petrol engines depending on version and year. The redesigned second generation arrived in January 1997 with conservative sedan styling, a quieter interior, dual front airbags and 1.5- or 1.6-litre engines. Selected versions featured VTEC-E technology and Honda’s Multi Matic continuously variable transmission, while a 1.6-litre four-wheel-drive model was also available.
The Domani was known as a refined, well-equipped compact sedan rather than a sporting model. Its four-wheel double-wishbone suspension, restrained styling and higher-grade cabin helped distinguish it within Honda’s small-car range. Later updates made anti-lock brakes standard and added low-emission versions. Production ended in 2000 after two generations.
