About Honda Crossroad

The Honda Crossroad name was used for two distinctly different SUVs. The first appeared in Japan in 1993 as a Honda-badged version of the first-generation Land Rover Discovery. Built in Britain by Rover, it was offered in three-door and five-door forms with four-wheel drive and a V8 petrol engine. This model gave Honda a traditional, off-road-oriented SUV before the company established its own broader crossover range.

Honda revived the name in 2007 for an independently developed compact crossover aimed primarily at the Japanese market. This second generation combined rugged, angular styling with dimensions suited to urban driving. Its three-row cabin accommodated up to seven occupants, placing it between a compact SUV and a small minivan within Honda’s line-up.

The later Crossroad was available with 1.8-litre and 2.0-litre i-VTEC petrol engines, a five-speed automatic transmission and either front-wheel drive or Real-Time 4WD. Versions included the 18L, 18X, 20X and better-equipped 20Xi, with equipment varying by drivetrain and trim.

Production of the second generation ended in 2010. The Crossroad is best known for its unusual two-part identity: first as a conventional Land Rover-based 4x4 and later as a compact, Honda-engineered seven-seat crossover with distinctive box-shaped styling and practical packaging.
