About Honda Brio
The Honda Brio is a five-door city hatchback developed as an entry-level passenger car for Asian markets. It made its world debut in Thailand in 2011 and was subsequently produced and sold in countries including India and Indonesia. Its compact footprint, light controls and efficient interior packaging suit congested roads and buyers seeking an affordable first car.
Two generations have been introduced. The first-generation Brio was recognisable by its large glass tailgate and was offered with market-specific petrol engines and manual, automatic or CVT transmissions. In Indonesia, the Brio Satya joined the range in 2013 under the Low Cost Green Car programme. The sportier Brio RS was added later as the higher-grade version.
The second generation debuted in Indonesia in 2018. It adopted a more conventional rear hatch, a longer wheelbase and greater passenger and luggage space while retaining city-friendly dimensions. A 2023 update revised the styling and equipment. Indonesian versions continue to include Satya and RS models, powered by a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine with manual or CVT options.
Within Honda’s lineup, the Brio sits below larger hatchbacks and SUVs. It is known for easy manoeuvrability, fuel efficiency, straightforward operation and useful cabin space for its exterior size.
