About Ford Galaxy
The Ford Galaxy was a large, five-door MPV developed primarily for European markets. Produced from 1995 until 2023, it served as Ford’s spacious seven-seat family car, offering a more passenger-car-like alternative to van-based people carriers. It was positioned above Ford’s smaller MPVs and placed greater emphasis on cabin space than the sportier S-Max.
Three generations were produced. The original Galaxy was developed with the Volkswagen Group and was closely related to the Volkswagen Sharan and SEAT Alhambra. The second generation, launched in 2006, became a Ford-developed model. The third arrived in 2015, sharing its basic architecture with the Ford Mondeo and S-Max, and remained in production until April 2023.
Depending on year and market, versions included petrol and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions, and a range of equipment grades. A petrol-electric hybrid joined the later line-up, while selected versions were available with all-wheel drive.
The Galaxy is best known for its three-row interior, seven full-size seats and flexible passenger and luggage space. Its combination of practicality, long-distance comfort and relatively car-like road manners made it suitable for large families, passenger transport and other users needing substantial capacity without moving to a commercial-vehicle-based model.
