About Ford Fusion
The Ford Fusion is a mid-size four-door sedan introduced for the 2006 model year. In Ford’s North American passenger-car range, it sat between the compact Focus and the larger Taurus. Most examples were assembled in Hermosillo, Mexico, with additional second-generation production in Flat Rock, Michigan. The final North American model year was 2020.
Two generations were produced. The first covered model years 2006–2012, while the redesigned second generation ran from 2013–2020. The later car adopted Ford’s global design direction and received styling, technology and safety updates during its production cycle. Trim names varied by year and included S, SE, SEL, Titanium and Platinum.
The range was unusually broad for a mainstream family sedan. Depending on model year, buyers could choose naturally aspirated or turbocharged petrol engines, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the performance-oriented V6 Sport. Electrified versions included the Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid. The model is known for combining practical passenger space with composed road manners, distinctive styling and a wide selection of powertrains and equipment.
