About Ford Figo
The Ford Figo is a subcompact car developed primarily for price-sensitive markets. Introduced in India in 2010 and exported to countries including South Africa, it served as an accessible entry point to Ford’s passenger-car range. Production in India ended in 2021 when Ford ceased local vehicle manufacturing.
Two generations were produced. The first-generation Figo was a five-door hatchback based on earlier Fiesta architecture, adapted with distinct styling and equipment for its target markets. The second generation arrived in 2015 with a new body, a more modern cabin and wider variation between markets. Hatchback and four-door sedan versions were offered, while a crossover-styled derivative was available in selected regions.
Engine and transmission choices differed by country and model year. The range included naturally aspirated petrol and turbocharged diesel engines, five-speed manual gearboxes and several automatic options. A facelift introduced during the second generation brought revised styling, updated equipment and newer powertrains.
The Figo was positioned below the Fiesta in much of Ford’s international lineup. It is best known for combining compact exterior dimensions with practical passenger space, straightforward controls and road manners influenced by Ford’s larger small cars.
