About Ford F-75
The Ford F-75 was a Brazilian-built pickup developed from the Willys Pick-up Jeep, which entered local production in 1961. Ford acquired control of Willys-Overland do Brasil in 1967 and later adopted the F-75 name as the former Willys utility range was integrated into its line-up. Production continued into the early 1980s.
Designed primarily as a working vehicle, the F-75 used a separate chassis, a single cab and a conventional cargo bed. Its Jeep-derived construction gave it a different character from Ford’s larger F-Series pickups, including the F-100. It served buyers needing a simple utility vehicle for farms, construction work and travel on poor roads.
The model followed one main design lineage rather than several formally defined generations. Changes were evolutionary, with revisions to branding, trim and mechanical components. Both rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive versions were offered, while equipment levels remained relatively basic.
Earlier examples used Willys inline-six petrol engines. In the mid-1970s, Ford introduced a 2.3-litre overhead-cam four-cylinder engine and a four-speed manual transmission. An ethanol-fuelled version appeared near the end of production. The F-75 is chiefly known for its sturdy construction, useful off-road ability, mechanical simplicity and distinctive role in Brazil’s early domestic pickup market.
