About Ford C-MAX
The Ford C-MAX is a compact multi-purpose vehicle developed by Ford of Europe and produced from 2003 to 2019. Originally named the Focus C-MAX, it shared its basic engineering with the Focus but used a taller five-door body for easier access, flexible seating and increased luggage space. It sat between Ford’s conventional family hatchbacks and larger people carriers.
Two main generations were produced. The first was a five-seat model and adopted the shorter C-MAX name during its life. The second generation arrived in 2010 in two forms: the standard five-seat C-MAX and the longer Grand C-MAX. The Grand version offered up to seven seats, sliding rear doors and additional cabin flexibility.
European versions were available with a broad range of petrol and diesel engines, manual or automatic transmissions and several trim levels. In North America, the five-seat C-MAX had a distinct role as an electrified model, sold in conventional hybrid and C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid forms.
The C-MAX is known for combining MPV practicality with Focus-related road manners. Its raised seating position, adaptable interior and compact exterior suited family use without the bulk of a full-size MPV. Production ended in 2019 amid declining European demand for vehicles in its segment.
