About Ford Bronco Sport
The Ford Bronco Sport is a five-seat compact SUV introduced for the 2021 model year as the smaller member of Ford’s revived Bronco family. It combines unibody crossover construction with rugged styling and greater trail capability than a typical small SUV. Four-wheel drive has been standard since launch, helping distinguish it from more road-focused alternatives.
Production began in 2020 at Ford’s Hermosillo plant in Mexico. The Bronco Sport continues in its first generation, with a substantial update for 2025 that brought revised technology, functional design changes and expanded off-road equipment. Versions have included Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks and Badlands, along with Heritage and other appearance-focused variations. The current US range comprises Big Bend, Heritage, Outer Banks and Badlands models, with selected off-road and styling packages.
Within Ford’s SUV line-up, the Bronco Sport sits below the larger Bronco and offers a tougher alternative to conventional compact crossovers. It is known for its upright body, safari-style roof, versatile cargo area and terrain-management modes. Most versions balance everyday usability with light off-road ability, while Badlands models add advanced four-wheel drive, specialised suspension hardware and extra underbody protection.
