About FIAT Tipo
The FIAT Tipo is a compact family car positioned in the C-segment. The name first appeared in 1988 on a practical five-door hatchback that replaced the Ritmo and was named European Car of the Year for 1989. FIAT revived the badge in 2015 for a new model focused on everyday usability, interior space and accessible pricing.
The modern Tipo was designed in Italy, developed with Tofaş in Türkiye and manufactured at the Bursa plant. It was introduced as a four-door saloon, followed by five-door hatchback and station wagon versions. Depending on the market and model year, the range included petrol, diesel, LPG and mild-hybrid powertrains, with manual or automatic transmissions. Cross variants added raised suspension, protective exterior trim and a more rugged appearance without changing the model’s basic passenger-car role.
