About FIAT Panda
The FIAT Panda is a compact city car introduced in 1980. Designed to provide practical and affordable transport in a small footprint, it has become one of FIAT’s most recognisable models. Three generations have retained the basic formula of upright styling, efficient use of space and straightforward operation, while adding modern equipment, safety systems and updated powertrains.
Most Pandas are five-door hatchbacks intended for urban and everyday family use. The range has included petrol, diesel, alternative-fuel and mild-hybrid versions, depending on generation and market. Notable variations include the Panda 4x4, first launched in 1983, and the more rugged-looking Cross. Commercial Van derivatives and numerous special editions have also been offered.
The third-generation Panda entered production in 2011 at FIAT’s Pomigliano d’Arco plant in Italy. For the 2026 model year, this smaller model is marketed as the Pandina, with hybrid power and Pop, Icon and Cross trim levels. It remains the accessible entry point in the Panda family, alongside the larger Grande Panda.
Within the FIAT line-up, the Panda is known as the practical alternative to the more style-led 500. Its main qualities are compact dimensions, good visibility, flexible interior space, easy manoeuvrability and relatively simple mechanical design.
