About FIAT Freemont
The FIAT Freemont is a large family crossover introduced in 2011 and sold until 2016. Based on the Dodge Journey, it was the first FIAT model developed from the brand’s partnership with Chrysler Group. Production took place at the Toluca plant in Mexico, with the vehicle offered in several European and international markets.
Combining elements of an SUV, estate car and MPV, the Freemont was positioned as a practical alternative for buyers needing generous passenger and luggage space. Its cabin could accommodate up to seven people across three rows, while folding rear seats allowed the load area to be expanded. The model became FIAT’s main offering in the large family-vehicle segment.
European versions were primarily fitted with 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel engines in different power outputs. Petrol engines, including four-cylinder and V6 units, were available in selected markets.
The range included several equipment grades, while the later Freemont Cross added more rugged exterior detailing and a higher specification. The model is chiefly known for its flexible interior, long-distance comfort and ability to combine seven-seat practicality with crossover styling.
