About FIAT Ducato
The FIAT Ducato is a large light commercial vehicle introduced in 1981 and sold under the FIAT Professional brand. It is one of the marque’s core working models, serving operators that need more capacity than a compact or medium van. European production has long been centred at the Atessa plant in Italy, where the Ducato originated through the Sevel light-commercial-vehicle programme.
The front-wheel-drive range is offered in numerous lengths, wheelbases, roof heights and weight classes. Variations include panel and glazed vans, chassis cabs, crew cabs and platform-cab models, creating bases for box bodies, tippers, minibuses and other specialist conversions. Diesel versions remain available, while the E-Ducato provides a battery-electric alternative.
The Ducato is particularly well known as a base for camper vans and motorhomes, reflecting its broad body choice, low load floor and suitability for conversion. Across six generations, its defining qualities have included usable cargo space, extensive configurability and a cab designed for intensive commercial use. These strengths have helped it maintain a prominent position in Europe’s large-van market and become one of FIAT Professional’s most recognisable models.
