About FIAT Brava
The FIAT Brava is a five-door compact family car introduced in Europe in 1995 as the practical counterpart to the three-door FIAT Bravo. It replaced the Tipo in FIAT’s C-segment range and sat above the smaller Punto, providing easier rear-seat access and greater everyday versatility. European production continued until 2001, while Brazilian production ran from 1999 to 2003.
Although closely related to the Bravo, the Brava had its own body design. Its most recognisable feature is the rear treatment, with three-part tail lamps and a gently stepped hatchback profile. The cabin and five-door layout were designed to balance passenger space, luggage capacity and compact exterior dimensions.
European versions initially included 1.4-, 1.6- and 1.8-litre petrol engines, plus 1.9-litre turbodiesels. Later updates brought a 1.2-litre 16-valve petrol unit and JTD common-rail diesel options. Trim designations varied by market, with S, SX, EL and ELX among the main versions.
The Brava occupied FIAT’s mainstream compact class, focusing more on practicality than the sportier Bravo. The pair won the 1996 European Car of the Year award and were recognised for distinctive styling, value, reasonable performance and improved build quality.
