About FIAT Albea
The FIAT Albea is a compact four-door saloon introduced in 2002. Developed from the same global small-car programme as the FIAT Palio and Siena, it was designed mainly for markets where buyers valued a traditional boot, useful cabin space and moderate running costs. It was produced primarily by Tofaş in Bursa, Turkey, until 2012.
The Albea was sold in Turkey and several Central and Eastern European markets. Depending on the country and model year, the range included 1.2-, 1.4- and 1.6-litre petrol engines, as well as a 1.3-litre Multijet diesel. Most versions used a five-speed manual transmission, while trim levels and equipment differed by market. A substantial exterior and interior update arrived during the model’s production run.
Within FIAT’s lineup, the Albea served as an accessible family saloon positioned around the brand’s Palio-based models. It was known for practical packaging, a relatively spacious passenger compartment and a large separate luggage area despite its compact dimensions. Straightforward engineering and a focus on essential equipment also made it suitable for private, fleet and taxi use. The model was later superseded in many markets by newer FIAT saloons, particularly the Linea.
