About FIAT 619
The FIAT 619 was a heavy-duty cab-over truck developed by Fiat Veicoli Industriali for demanding road freight work. Introduced in 1964, it was positioned as a successor to the long-running FIAT 682, although the two models remained in production together for many years. Italian manufacture continued until 1980, while the 619 also had an extended production life in Argentina, where local assembly began in 1969.
The original range comprised the 619 N, supplied as a rigid truck or chassis for different bodies, and the 619 T road tractor for semi-trailers. Early vehicles used FIAT’s distinctive rounded “baffo” cab. The updated 619 N1 and T1 appeared in 1970 with the larger, more angular H-series cab. Most versions used a 4x2 layout, although regional production included further configurations such as 6x2 tractor variants.
Known for its straightforward construction, large inline-six diesel engines and adaptable chassis, the 619 served in long-distance haulage, general freight and specialised body applications. It occupied an important place in FIAT’s heavy-truck range and helped bridge the brand’s traditional commercial vehicles and the later Iveco generation.
