About FIAT 600
The FIAT 600 name first appeared in 1955 on a compact, rear-engined family car designed by Dante Giacosa. Produced in Italy until 1969 and built in several other countries, it became closely linked with post-war mass motorisation. Its four-seat layout, modest running costs and space-efficient engineering were central to its appeal. Major variations included the versatile six-seat 600 Multipla and sporting Abarth derivatives.
The badge returned on the small three-door hatchback launched as the Seicento in 1998. Renamed 600 in 2005, this Polish-built city car focused on easy manoeuvrability and economical ownership. Its range included petrol models, an electric Elettra and several special editions.
FIAT revived the name again in 2023 for a five-door compact crossover produced in Tychy, Poland. Measuring 4.17 metres long, the modern 600 sits above the 500 and marked FIAT’s return to the European B-segment. It seats five and combines city-friendly dimensions with greater cabin and luggage space than the brand’s smaller urban cars.
The new generation debuted as the battery-electric 600e, followed by 48-volt hybrid versions and, in selected markets, a petrol model with manual transmission. Specifications and trims vary by country. Across its different forms, the 600 is known for practical packaging, compact dimensions and accessible everyday transport.
