About FIAT 500L
The FIAT 500L is a compact five-door MPV introduced in 2012 as a larger and more practical member of the 500 family. Its high roof, short bonnet and upright body combine styling cues from the smaller 500 with the passenger space and flexibility expected from a family vehicle. It was positioned between conventional small hatchbacks and larger compact MPVs.
Production took place at FIAT’s extensively modernised plant in Kragujevac, Serbia, with vehicles supplied to European and other international markets. The standard model provided five seats, a spacious cabin for its exterior dimensions and a flexible rear seating arrangement. A broad glass area and elevated driving position contributed to good outward visibility.
Major variations included the Trekking and later Cross, which added crossover-inspired styling and increased ground clearance. The longer 500L Living, also sold as the MPW or Wagon in some markets, offered greater luggage capacity and an optional 5+2-seat layout. The range received a significant update in 2017, including revised styling, equipment and version names.
The 500L is chiefly known for packaging efficiency, easy cabin access and everyday versatility rather than sporty performance. Within FIAT’s lineup, it served buyers who liked the character of the 500 range but required substantially more passenger and cargo space.
