About Ferrari Portofino
The Ferrari Portofino is a front-engined 2+2 grand touring sports car with a folding metal roof, allowing it to serve as both a coupé and a convertible. Unveiled in 2017 and delivered from 2018, it replaced the California T and occupied the more comfort-oriented end of Ferrari’s range rather than the mid-engined supercar category.
Named after the Italian coastal town, the Portofino combined a twin-turbocharged 3.9-litre V8, rear-wheel drive and a dual-clutch transmission. The original version produced 600 cv and used a seven-speed gearbox. Its retractable hardtop, compact rear seats and touring focus gave it greater everyday versatility than Ferrari’s more specialised two-seat models.
The model had one principal generation with a major update rather than a complete redesign. Presented in 2020, the Portofino M—short for Modificata—raised output to 620 cv, adopted an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and added a five-position Manettino with Race mode. It retained the 2+2 layout and folding hardtop while gaining sharper performance and revised technology.
Ferrari phased out the Portofino M during 2024. Across its production run, the Portofino was known as one of the brand’s most versatile modern GT models, combining open-air driving and strong performance with comparatively practical dimensions and comfort.
