About Ferrari F512 M
The Ferrari F512 M is a two-seat, rear-mid-engined sports car introduced in 1994 as the final development of the Testarossa line. It replaced the 512 TR and remained in production until 1996, when Ferrari shifted its series-production 12-cylinder flagship back to a front-engine layout with the 550 Maranello.
The F512 M formed a single, short-lived model generation rather than a broader family of body styles. Its name uses “M” for modificata, or modified, reflecting substantial revisions to the 512 TR. The 4.9-litre flat-12 engine produced 440 hp and drove the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. Lower weight and aerodynamic changes improved performance and responsiveness.
Pininfarina’s updated design retained the Testarossa’s wide proportions and side strakes while adding fixed covered headlights, revised bumpers and twin circular rear lights. Differences between examples mainly relate to regional specifications and left- or right-hand drive. With only 501 cars built, it is the rarest production version of the Testarossa series. It is particularly known as Ferrari’s last road car with a centrally mounted flat-12 engine, combining distinctive 1980s-derived styling with the most developed mechanical specification in the lineage.
