About Ferrari F355
The Ferrari F355 is a two-seat, rear-mid-engined V8 sports car produced from 1994 to 1999. It replaced the 348 and was followed by the 360 Modena. Built as a single generation, it represented a major development of Ferrari’s compact V8 line, combining greater performance and refinement with more approachable handling and everyday usability.
Its 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V8 used five valves per cylinder and produced 380 cv. Early cars had a six-speed gated manual gearbox, while the 355 F1 introduced in 1997 offered an electrohydraulically operated transmission with steering-wheel paddles, bringing Formula 1-derived shift technology to a Ferrari road car.
The range included the fixed-roof F355 Berlinetta, the F355 GTS with a removable roof panel and the open F355 Spider. The F355 Challenge was prepared for Ferrari’s one-make racing series. Within the contemporary lineup, the model served as Ferrari’s core mid-engined sports car beneath its larger twelve-cylinder grand tourers and limited-production flagships.
The F355 is especially known for its Pininfarina styling, high-revving engine, distinctive exhaust note and balanced chassis. It also marked a transition between the more analogue Ferraris of the 1980s and the increasingly sophisticated models that followed.
