About Ferrari 575M Maranello
The Ferrari 575M Maranello is a two-seat, front-engined grand touring coupé introduced in 2002 as an extensively revised successor to the 550 Maranello. The “M” means modificata, indicating a major evolution rather than a new generation. It retained the Pininfarina-designed long-bonnet form while adding a 5.75-litre naturally aspirated V12, updated aerodynamics, revised suspension and a refreshed cabin.
As Ferrari’s flagship series-production V12 berlinetta, the 575M combined very high performance with the comfort and luggage capacity of a long-distance GT. Its 515 hp engine powered the rear wheels through either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed F1 electrohydraulic transmission. The paddle-shift option made it a notable link between traditional manual Ferraris and the brand’s later automated models.
The 575M remained a single generation, with equipment and chassis developments during its production run. The optional Handling GTC package added a more focused suspension, braking and exhaust specification. The related Superamerica arrived in 2005 with a rotating glass roof and a 540 hp version of the V12, creating an open-top variation of the platform. Ferrari also developed the separate 575 GTC competition car for GT racing.
Produced until 2006 and replaced by the 599 GTB Fiorano, the 575M is known for combining classic front-V12 Ferrari proportions and touring ability with early-2000s electronic transmission and chassis technology.
