About Ferrari 360
The Ferrari 360 is a two-seat, mid-engined sports car introduced in 1999 as the successor to the F355. It occupied the core V8 position in Ferrari’s range, below the company’s larger V12 grand tourers, and remained in production until the F430 took its place in the mid-2000s. The 360 was built as a single generation and marked a significant technical step through its extensive use of aluminium for the spaceframe chassis and body.
The original 360 Modena coupé was joined by the open-top 360 Spider in 2000. Both used a naturally aspirated 3.6-litre V8 producing 400 hp, mounted behind the passenger compartment and visible through a glass engine cover on the coupé. Buyers could choose a six-speed manual transmission or Ferrari’s six-speed electrohydraulic F1 paddle-shift system.
The road-focused range was completed by the Challenge Stradale, introduced in 2003 as a lighter, sharper and more powerful version influenced by Ferrari’s competition cars. Track-only and racing derivatives included the 360 Challenge, 360 GT and 360 GTC. Known for its Pininfarina styling, high-revving engine and responsive handling, the 360 helped define Ferrari’s modern mid-engined V8 formula while retaining a relatively direct, analogue driving character.
