About Ducati Superleggera
The Ducati Superleggera is a limited-production, road-legal superbike positioned at the top of Ducati’s performance range. Introduced in 2013, the name means “superlight” in Italian and reflects the series’ emphasis on reducing mass through advanced materials. Each model is derived from a contemporary Ducati superbike but receives more specialised engineering, track-focused aerodynamics and extensive weight-saving measures.
Four generations have been produced: the 1199 Superleggera from 2013, the 1299 Superleggera from 2017, the Superleggera V4 from 2020 and the Superleggera V4 Centenario from 2026. The first two used Ducati’s Superquadro V-twin engine, while the later models adopted V4 power. Production of each main version was limited to 500 numbered motorcycles. The Centenario also has a separate 100-unit Tricolore variation.
Superleggera models are known for exceptionally high power-to-weight ratios, carbon-fibre or magnesium structural components, premium suspension and braking equipment, and technology influenced by Ducati Corse racing programmes. Although approved for road use, their design and riding characteristics are strongly oriented towards circuit performance. Within the Ducati line-up, the Superleggera serves as a technical showcase and highly exclusive collector model rather than a regular-production Panigale variant.
