About Ducati 750 Sport

The Ducati 750 Sport is a road-going sport motorcycle produced in two distinct periods. The original 1972–1974 model was an early version of Ducati’s 750 cc L-twin platform, positioned as a more sporting alternative to the 750 GT. Its low handlebars, rear-set foot controls and single-seat styling helped establish the format of Ducati’s later large-capacity sports machines.

Ducati revived the name for a second generation built from 1988 to 1990 under Cagiva ownership. This version succeeded the 750 F1 and occupied the middleweight end of Ducati’s sport range. It combined an F1-derived tubular trellis frame with a 748 cc air- and oil-cooled, belt-driven desmodromic L-twin related to the 750 Paso engine. A five-speed gearbox, dry clutch, aluminium swingarm, Brembo disc brakes and 16-inch wheels reflected Ducati’s late-1980s engineering.

Unlike the fully enclosed Paso, the second-generation 750 Sport used more conventional sports-bike bodywork that exposed much of its frame and engine. Production changes were limited, with the main variations involving colour and graphics, including red-and-blue and red-and-silver schemes. The model is known for its compact proportions, relatively low weight, firm sporting ergonomics and direct handling. Its short production run also makes it an important link between the F1 family and the air-cooled SuperSport models that followed.
