About Ducati 750 F1

The Ducati 750 F1 is a road-going sports motorcycle developed from Ducati’s TT1 and TT2 competition programme. Introduced in 1985, it represented the brand’s most focused production model of the period and brought endurance-racing design and styling to a street-legal machine.

Its 748 cc, air-cooled, two-valve desmodromic L-twin was derived from the Pantah engine family and paired with a five-speed gearbox. A tubular steel frame, compact proportions, full fairing and committed riding position reinforced its race-replica character. Low weight, responsive handling and a direct mechanical feel are central to the model’s reputation.

The 750 F1 formed a single model family rather than several distinct generations. Early and revised standard versions are often identified as the F1A and F1B. Ducati also produced three limited, more specialised variations named after circuits associated with its racing success: the Montjuich, Laguna Seca and Santamonica. These received differing combinations of engine, chassis, braking, exhaust and equipment upgrades.

Within Ducati’s 1980s range, the 750 F1 sat above the smaller F3 models and served as a link between the Pantah-derived sports motorcycles and the later generation of Ducati superbikes. It remains known for its minimalist construction, competition heritage and distinctive red, green and white bodywork.
