About Dodge Verna
The Dodge Verna was a subcompact passenger car sold in Mexico from 2004 to 2006. Despite its Dodge-market identity, it was an imported Hyundai Accent offered through Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep dealerships under a distribution agreement. Some vehicles were presented as “Verna by Dodge” and retained visible Hyundai branding.
Based on the facelifted second-generation Accent, known internally as the LC, the Verna used a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout. It was available as a three-door hatchback and a four-door saloon, giving buyers a choice between a compact urban body and a more conventional family-car format. Mexican versions included GL and better-equipped GV variants, with four-cylinder petrol engines and manual or automatic transmissions depending on specification.
The Verna did not progress through several distinct Dodge generations. Its brief production run represented one generation of the Hyundai-derived model. In 2006, its place was taken by the Dodge Attitude, based on the next-generation Accent.
Within Dodge’s Mexican range, the Verna served as an entry-level economy car beneath the brand’s larger saloons and utility vehicles. It is chiefly known for simple mechanical design, compact dimensions, practical everyday transport and shared components with the Hyundai Accent.
