About Dodge Conquest
The Dodge Conquest was a compact, rear-wheel-drive sports coupe sold in North America for the 1984–1986 model years. It was a captive import built in Japan by Mitsubishi and closely related to the Mitsubishi Starion. Plymouth offered an equivalent Conquest during the same period, while later versions were marketed under the Chrysler name.
Produced in a single generation, the Conquest used a three-door hatchback body with 2+2 seating. Dodge models featured a turbocharged 2.6-litre four-cylinder engine, with manual and automatic transmissions available. Early cars had relatively restrained, narrow-body styling, while selected later versions adopted pronounced wheel-arch extensions and a wider, more aggressive appearance.
Versions included LE and Technica models, as well as the performance-focused TSi. Equipment and specifications varied by model year, with higher-grade cars offering features such as an intercooler, digital instruments, leather upholstery and upgraded suspension or braking hardware.
Within Dodge’s 1980s range, the Conquest served as a specialised alternative to the brand’s front-wheel-drive coupes. It is best known for its turbocharged power, rear-drive layout, angular styling, pop-up headlamps and distinctive wide-body TSi form.
