About Dodge Atos
The Dodge Atos, officially marketed in Mexico as the Atos by Dodge, was a small five-door city car designed and manufactured by Hyundai. Dodge distributed it through its Mexican dealer network during the 2000s and early 2010s, when Hyundai vehicles were not yet sold locally through a dedicated Hyundai retail operation.
Based on the Hyundai Atos Prime, it occupied the entry-level end of Dodge’s passenger-car range. Its tall, narrow hatchback body provided useful passenger space and headroom within a very short overall length, making it particularly suited to crowded streets, limited parking and everyday urban travel.
The Dodge-badged model did not develop through several distinct Dodge-engineered generations. Instead, it remained part of the Hyundai Atos family and received styling, mechanical and equipment updates during its production life. Depending on model year, versions included basic and better-equipped trims, with features such as air conditioning and a choice of manual or automatic transmission. Small four-cylinder petrol engines, initially 1.0 litres and later 1.1 litres, powered the front wheels.
The Atos became known for affordability, low fuel use, simple mechanical components and inexpensive operation. Performance, luggage capacity and safety equipment were modest by modern standards, but its practicality and compact dimensions made it a widely recognised urban car in Mexico.
