About Daewoo Veritas
The Daewoo Veritas was a large luxury sedan sold in South Korea from 2008 to 2010. It replaced the Daewoo Statesman as GM Daewoo’s flagship passenger car and targeted the executive-sedan segment. Developed by GM’s Australian subsidiary Holden and built in Australia, it was adapted from the long-wheelbase WM Holden Statesman/Caprice for Korean buyers.
The nameplate covered a single generation. All versions were four-door, rear-wheel-drive sedans powered by a 3.6-litre petrol V6. Early cars used a five-speed automatic transmission, while a 2009 update introduced direct fuel injection, increased output and a six-speed automatic. The range was offered in Deluxe, Premium and Luxury trim levels.
Within the Daewoo lineup, the Veritas stood apart from the brand’s smaller, front-wheel-drive models through its substantial dimensions, long wheelbase and rear-passenger focus. Notable qualities included a spacious cabin, comfort-oriented chassis and extensive equipment, with higher versions offering electrically adjustable rear seating, a massage function, rear entertainment features and three-zone climate control. Its Australian origins and limited Korean-market run also make it one of the more distinctive models from the GM Daewoo period.
