About Daewoo Magnus
The Daewoo Magnus is a four-door, front-wheel-drive mid-size sedan produced in South Korea from 2000 to 2006. Known internally as the V200, it was developed from an enlarged version of the Leganza platform and gradually replaced the Leganza in Daewoo’s passenger-car range. It occupied an upper position in the brand’s line-up, offering more space and comfort than Daewoo’s smaller saloons.
The Magnus was offered in one main generation, with styling revisions and mechanical updates during its production life. Italdesign was responsible for the original exterior design, which combined restrained European-influenced styling with a spacious, conventional saloon layout. Engine availability differed by country and included 2.0-litre four-cylinder units as well as Daewoo-developed 2.0- and 2.5-litre inline-six engines. Manual and automatic transmissions were available.
Outside South Korea, versions of the V200 appeared under several names, including Daewoo Evanda, Chevrolet Evanda, Chevrolet Epica and Suzuki Verona. These variations reflected Daewoo’s integration into General Motors and its use across different regional dealer networks. The Magnus is chiefly associated with generous cabin room, comfort-focused road manners and the unusual availability of compact inline-six power in a mainstream sedan. It was replaced in 2006 by the V250-based Daewoo Tosca.
