About Daewoo Leganza

The Daewoo Leganza is a four-door, front-wheel-drive saloon introduced in 1997 as the largest and most upmarket model in Daewoo’s new passenger-car range. Positioned above the Lanos and Nubira, it replaced the Espero in many markets and gave the South Korean brand an entry in the mid-size or executive-car class. Its exterior was designed by Italdesign.

The Leganza was produced in a single generation, commonly identified by the V100 project code. Main production ran from 1997 to 2002, with manufacture in South Korea supplemented by assembly in several overseas markets. A modest update near the end of the production run brought minor styling changes rather than a full redesign.

Every Leganza used a four-door saloon body. Petrol four-cylinder engines varied by region, with 2.0-litre versions common in Europe and 2.2-litre models offered in markets including North America and Australia. Five-speed manual and four-speed automatic transmissions were available, while trim names and equipment packages differed between countries.

The model is primarily known for its spacious cabin, comfort-oriented ride and generous equipment for its price. It was intended as a practical, value-focused flagship rather than a sporting saloon, competing with established family and executive cars through affordability and standard features.
