About Chrysler LHS

The Chrysler LHS was a full-size four-door sedan sold for the 1994–1997 and 1999–2001 model years. Developed on Chrysler’s LH platform, it sat at or near the top of the passenger-car range and followed the Imperial and Fifth Avenue as the brand’s large premium offering. A one-model-year break separated its two generations.

The first-generation LHS shared its basic architecture with the Chrysler New Yorker and Concorde, Dodge Intrepid and Eagle Vision, but used the stretched, more formal version of the platform with a high level of standard equipment. It is closely associated with Chrysler’s 1990s cab-forward design approach, which emphasised a long passenger compartment, generous rear-seat space and a relatively short bonnet.

The redesigned second generation retained front-wheel drive, a 3.5-litre V6 and a four-speed automatic transmission. Within the lineup, it provided a more traditional luxury-oriented alternative to the shorter, sportier Chrysler 300M while remaining related to the Concorde. Across both generations, the LHS was chiefly known for spacious accommodation, a quiet, comfort-focused ride, distinctive styling and extensive standard equipment rather than a wide range of trims or powertrains. After the 2001 model year, its role and much of its exterior design continued in the Chrysler Concorde Limited.
