About Chrysler Intrepid
The Chrysler Intrepid was a large four-door sedan sold in Canada for the 1993–2004 model years. It was the Canadian-market counterpart of the Dodge Intrepid offered in the United States, sharing the same engineering and distinctive styling. Production took place in Ontario as part of Chrysler’s LH-platform programme.
Two generations were produced. The first covered 1993–1997, while a substantially redesigned second generation arrived for 1998 and continued through 2004. Both used front-wheel drive, V6 engines and four-speed automatic transmissions. Depending on the year, the engine range included 2.7-, 3.2-, 3.3- and 3.5-litre units.
Versions varied across the production run and included standard, ES, SE, R/T and SXT models. Entry-level cars emphasised space and value, while ES, R/T and SXT versions added combinations of stronger engines, firmer suspension tuning, larger wheels and additional equipment. Fleet and police configurations were also available in later years.
The Intrepid sat among Chrysler’s large passenger cars alongside related models such as the Concorde, LHS and 300M. It was known for its cab-forward design, long wheelbase, spacious passenger compartment and large boot. Its lower roofline and more sporting appearance distinguished it from the more formal sedans in the wider Chrysler range.
