About Chrysler Delta
The Chrysler Delta is a five-door compact family hatchback sold mainly in the United Kingdom and Ireland from 2011 to 2014. It was the Chrysler-badged version of the third-generation Lancia Delta, which had entered production in 2008. Built in Italy, the model reflected the period when Fiat and Chrysler were integrating their European product ranges.
Only one generation was offered with Chrysler branding. It combined a European front-wheel-drive platform and powertrains with Chrysler badges and a brand-specific grille. The Delta occupied the C-segment but was unusually large for the class, measuring about 4.52 metres long. It was positioned as a more distinctive and comfort-focused alternative to mainstream family hatchbacks, as well as one of the smaller vehicles in Chrysler’s European range.
The engine line-up included turbocharged 1.4-litre T-Jet and MultiAir petrol units, plus 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre MultiJet diesels. Most versions used a six-speed manual gearbox, while an automated transmission was available with the 1.6 diesel. Depending on model year, trims included S, SE, SR, Limited and S-Series specifications.
The Delta is best known for its spacious cabin, long wheelbase and flexible rear seating. Most versions had a split rear bench that could slide and recline, allowing owners to balance passenger space against luggage capacity. Distinctive styling, available two-tone paint and relatively uncommon sales also set it apart within Chrysler’s line-up.
