About Chrysler Crossfire
The Chrysler Crossfire is a two-seat, rear-wheel-drive sports car sold for the 2004 to 2008 model years. Developed during the DaimlerChrysler era, it combined distinctive Chrysler styling with engineering derived from the first-generation Mercedes-Benz SLK. Production ran from 2003 to 2007 at the Karmann plant in Osnabrück, Germany. The Crossfire had one generation and occupied a specialist halo role alongside Chrysler’s mainstream cars and minivans.
It was available as a fixed-roof coupe and a soft-top Roadster. Standard and Limited models used a naturally aspirated 3.2-litre V6, with six-speed manual and five-speed automatic transmissions offered depending on the version and market. Trim structures varied by year and region, with base, Limited and SE models among the regular variations.
The SRT-6 was the high-performance version. It featured a supercharged 3.2-litre V6 producing 330 hp, a five-speed automatic transmission, upgraded suspension and brakes, and distinctive aerodynamic details. Offered in coupe and Roadster forms, it was the first Chrysler-branded SRT model.
The Crossfire is known for its compact proportions, long bonnet, tapered rear profile, central body spine and staggered-diameter wheels. Most non-SRT versions also had an active rear spoiler. Its combination of American design and German mechanical roots made it an unusual entry in the early-2000s sports-car market.
