About Chrysler Aspen

The Chrysler Aspen was a full-size, three-row SUV sold for the 2007–2009 model years. It was Chrysler’s first truck-based SUV, adding a large family and towing-focused vehicle to a lineup otherwise centred on cars and minivans.

Developed alongside the second-generation Dodge Durango, the Aspen shared its body-on-frame construction and much of its mechanical package with the Dodge. It was assembled in Newark, Delaware. Chrysler distinguished it with a more formal exterior, extensive chrome detailing and a more upscale cabin. Depending on seating configuration, it could accommodate up to eight occupants.

The Aspen remained a single-generation model throughout its short production run. Most versions carried Limited trim and were available with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Engine choices included 4.7-litre and 5.7-litre HEMI V8 units, depending on model year and specification. For 2009, the Aspen HEMI Hybrid paired the 5.7-litre V8 with a two-mode hybrid system and standard four-wheel drive, although this version was produced only briefly.

Known for its spacious interior, three-row seating, V8 performance and useful towing capability, the Aspen occupied a more refined position than the related Durango without becoming a dedicated luxury model. Production ended in December 2008, making 2009 the final model year.
