About Chevrolet Trooper
The Chevrolet Trooper was a Chevrolet-badged version of the Isuzu Trooper, offered in selected markets including Colombia, Indonesia and other parts of Asia and South America. It was a body-on-frame sport utility vehicle developed for buyers needing passenger space, four-wheel-drive capability and durable utility-focused construction.
The wider Trooper model family was introduced by Isuzu in 1981 and developed through two generations before production ended in 2002. Chevrolet availability varied by country. In Colombia, local assembly began in 1988, while the second-generation model was marketed as the Trooper 960. Indonesian examples were also assembled locally under the Chevrolet name.
Depending on market and model year, the range included short- and long-wheelbase bodies with three or five doors. Petrol and diesel engines were offered globally, together with manual or automatic transmissions. Most versions featured selectable four-wheel drive and low-range gearing. Equipment levels ranged from basic, work-oriented models to better-appointed variants such as the DLX, while the Trooper 960 brought a larger body, greater comfort and available V6 power.
Within Chevrolet’s regional lineups, the Trooper served as a rugged off-road SUV positioned above smaller utility vehicles. It is best known for its practical cabin, upright design, substantial ground clearance and ability to handle difficult roads.
