About Chevrolet Trax
The Chevrolet Trax is a small crossover SUV introduced in global markets in 2013 and added to the US range for the 2015 model year. The first generation combined elevated seating and a flexible cabin with a compact, city-friendly footprint. Production was centred in South Korea, with additional manufacturing in Mexico and China for selected markets.
The second generation arrived in North America for the 2024 model year after the Trax skipped 2023. It adopted a longer, lower and wider body with more passenger and cargo space, shifting from an upright subcompact SUV shape to a more car-like crossover profile. Unlike the first generation, which offered all-wheel drive in some versions, the current US model is front-wheel drive only. It is built in Changwon, South Korea.
Within Chevrolet’s range, the Trax serves as an entry-level petrol-powered SUV, positioned below the Trailblazer and Equinox in price and market role. Current versions include LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS and ACTIV. RS models have sportier styling, while ACTIV uses more rugged-looking exterior details. The Trax is known for practical interior space, straightforward technology and an accessible position in the small-crossover segment.
