About Chevrolet Prisma
The Chevrolet Prisma is a compact four-door sedan developed primarily for Brazil and other South American markets. Introduced in 2006, it was produced at General Motors’ Gravataí plant in Brazil. The original model was derived from the Celta and gave Chevrolet an affordable small saloon with a notably useful boot. It was positioned as a practical alternative to compact hatchbacks for buyers needing extra luggage capacity.
Two main generations were sold under the Prisma name. The first ran from 2006 to 2012 and was closely related to the Celta. A substantially redesigned second generation arrived in 2013 as the saloon counterpart to the Onix hatchback. It offered greater interior space, a 500-litre boot and more modern equipment. Depending on year and market, versions included LS, LT and LTZ trims, 1.0- or 1.4-litre flex-fuel engines, and manual or automatic transmissions. The Advantage edition focused on value.
The Prisma became one of Chevrolet’s key compact models, known for straightforward engineering, everyday usability and low-cost positioning. In 2019, its role in the range was taken over by the Onix Plus. The outgoing design remained available as the lower-priced Joy Plus until 2022.
