About Chevrolet Impala
The Chevrolet Impala is a long-running American passenger car introduced for the 1958 model year. Produced across ten generations, it was offered from 1958 to 1985, returned from 1994 to 1996, and reappeared from 2000 to 2020. It occupied several positions within Chevrolet’s range, beginning as an upmarket version of the brand’s full-size car before becoming a high-volume mainstream model.
Earlier generations used rear-wheel drive and appeared in sedan, hardtop, coupe, convertible and station wagon forms. They are known for spacious cabins, distinctive styling and a wide choice of engines, including several V8 options. The Impala SS added a performance focus in the 1960s and returned as a four-door V8 model for 1994–1996.
From 2000, the Impala became a front-wheel-drive sedan aimed at family, business and fleet users. SS versions were again available, using supercharged V6 or V8 power depending on the model year. The tenth and final generation arrived for 2014 with a larger, more refined design, while the previous model continued as the fleet-oriented Impala Limited through 2016. A hybrid was also offered briefly. Known mainly for passenger space, ride comfort and practical road manners, the Impala served as Chevrolet’s largest conventional sedan until production ended on February 27, 2020.
