About Chevrolet Corsa
The Chevrolet Corsa was a subcompact, front-wheel-drive model developed from the Opel Corsa and adapted for Chevrolet markets, especially in Latin America. It joined the brand’s range as an affordable, modern replacement for older entry-level cars. In Brazil, production began in 1994, while Argentine manufacture followed in 1997.
The first Chevrolet generation was based on the Opel Corsa B. Initially known for its rounded hatchback body, the range expanded to include three- and five-door hatchbacks, a four-door saloon, the Corsa Wagon and the compact Corsa Pick-up. Equipment and engines varied by country, with economical small-capacity petrol units forming the core of the range. Sportier versions such as the Corsa GSi were also offered in selected markets.
A second generation, derived from the Opel Corsa C, arrived in South America in 2002 with larger dimensions and more contemporary styling. It was sold mainly as a five-door hatchback and saloon. The earlier saloon remained available alongside it as the Corsa Classic, later becoming the Chevrolet Classic and serving the lower-cost end of the lineup.
The Corsa is chiefly known for compact dimensions, practical body choices and accessible running costs. Its broad range allowed it to serve as a city car, small family vehicle and light commercial model.
