About Chevrolet Captiva
The Chevrolet Captiva is a compact-to-midsize crossover SUV introduced in 2006. Developed by GM Korea, the original model was sold across Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Oceania, where related versions also appeared under Daewoo and Holden branding. It combined car-based road manners with SUV styling and was commonly offered with five or seven seats.
The first-generation Captiva remained in production until 2018 and received several updates during its life. Depending on market and model year, buyers could choose petrol or diesel engines, manual or automatic transmissions, and front-wheel or all-wheel drive. Its flexible cabin and optional third row made it a practical family model within Chevrolet’s international SUV range.
A substantially different Captiva was introduced from late 2018 for selected markets. Based on the Baojun 530 and produced by SAIC-GM-Wuling in China, this version focused on accessible family transport, usually with a turbocharged petrol engine, front-wheel drive and five- or seven-seat layouts.
Availability and specifications vary considerably by region. In 2025, Chevrolet also expanded the Captiva name in the Middle East with five-seat electric and plug-in hybrid models, alongside the established petrol version. Across its variations, the Captiva is best known for prioritising cabin space, seating flexibility and everyday usability rather than off-road performance.
