About Chevrolet Bolt
The Chevrolet Bolt is a compact battery-electric vehicle introduced for the 2017 model year. It became known as an early mass-market EV that combined substantial driving range with a mainstream price and city-friendly dimensions. Its tall five-door body also provided useful passenger and cargo space for a small car.
The first production era continued through December 2023. For 2022, Chevrolet refreshed the Bolt EV and introduced the Bolt EUV, a longer, crossover-styled variation with additional rear-seat space. The EUV offered available Super Cruise, while the Bolt EV remained the smaller hatchback. Both used front-wheel drive and were produced at GM’s Orion Assembly plant in Michigan.
After a three-year hiatus, the Bolt returned for the 2027 model year as a limited-run vehicle assembled at Fairfax Assembly in Kansas. The revived model has a lithium-iron-phosphate battery, faster DC charging, a native NACS port and LT and RS trim levels.
Within Chevrolet’s range, the Bolt serves as an entry-level electric model. It is chiefly associated with efficiency, practical packaging, accessible EV ownership, regenerative braking and one-pedal driving rather than luxury or high performance.
