About Cadillac Brougham
The Cadillac Brougham was a full-size luxury sedan sold for the 1987–1992 model years. It continued the rear-wheel-drive Fleetwood Brougham after Cadillac reassigned the Fleetwood name to a smaller front-wheel-drive line. The Brougham retained a body-on-frame platform, V8 power and a four-door configuration, representing the brand’s traditional American luxury-car format.
All model years belong to one generation. The 1987–1989 cars largely carried forward the established design, while a 1990 facelift introduced composite headlamps, revised bumpers, updated rear styling and a digital instrument panel. Earlier models used a 5.0-litre Oldsmobile V8; later versions received fuel-injected Chevrolet 5.0-litre engines, with a 5.7-litre V8 available on selected cars. Automatic transmission was standard.
The range included the regular Brougham and the more richly trimmed d’Elegance package, recognised for details such as button-tufted upholstery and additional interior appointments. Within Cadillac’s changing line-up, the Brougham served buyers who preferred a large, formal sedan over the brand’s newer front-wheel-drive models. It is best known for its long body, spacious cabin, soft ride, substantial chrome detailing and comfort-focused character. Production ended after 1992, and the redesigned rear-wheel-drive Fleetwood replaced it for 1993.
