About Cadillac ATS

The Cadillac ATS was a compact premium car positioned below the CTS in Cadillac’s passenger-car range. Introduced for the 2013 model year, it was developed to compete with established European sport sedans and helped the brand expand into a smaller, more driver-focused market segment.

Built on General Motors’ rear-wheel-drive Alpha platform, the ATS was offered as a four-door saloon and, from the 2015 model year, a two-door coupé. Rear-wheel drive was standard, while all-wheel drive was available on selected versions. Depending on model year and market, engines included naturally aspirated four-cylinder and V6 units, as well as a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder. Automatic transmissions were most common, although certain rear-wheel-drive turbo models offered a manual gearbox.

The high-performance ATS-V joined the range for 2016 in both saloon and coupé forms. It used a twin-turbocharged 3.6-litre V6 and featured substantial chassis, braking and cooling upgrades. Cadillac also sold the extended-wheelbase ATS-L saloon in China.

The ATS remained in a single generation. Saloon production ended before the coupé, which continued through the 2019 model year. It was subsequently replaced in Cadillac’s line-up by the CT4. The ATS is primarily known for balanced rear-drive handling, compact dimensions and a chassis tuned to emphasise steering response and agility.
