About Buick Verano

The Buick Verano is a compact passenger car positioned as a more refined alternative to mainstream small sedans. In North America, it was sold for the 2012–2017 model years and sat below the Regal in Buick’s car range. Its front-wheel-drive layout and global GM compact-car architecture gave it a relatively small footprint, while Buick added distinctive exterior styling, upgraded cabin materials and extra sound insulation.

North American models were offered only as four-door sedans. Most used a naturally aspirated 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, while selected versions featured a more powerful 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. Trim and equipment varied by year, with comfort-focused grades, leather-appointed models, a Premium Turbo version and the appearance-oriented Sport Touring package.

The Verano name also became important in China, where SAIC-GM introduced market-specific generations after the North American version. Chinese lineups have included sedan and hatchback body styles, sporty GS variants and, from 2021, the redesigned Verano Pro family sedan.

Across its different forms, the Verano is best known for combining compact-car dimensions with a quiet cabin, composed ride and a more upscale interior. It occupied the entry point to Buick sedan ownership, bridging the gap between conventional compact cars and larger premium-oriented models.
